My Birthday!

I was pretty excited today. I really wanted everything to go smoothly and you know what? I got really lucky today! ^_^

First, I wasn’t late for my first class. I got up at 6:20am for my 9am class. That’s really early for me. Then my first class dismissed us early! I was surprised because she normally dismisses us 10 minutes AFTER the time. :P And because of the early dismissal, I was able to get to my next class ON time. :) I was able to comprehend the stuff my teacher was discussing because it’s very similar to physics. Yay!

Lunch came and I got my order earlier than expected. Then I sat down at the table with Nas, Ivy, Edward, and Carlo. Serafin was at the other table but that didn’t hinder us from having a great conversation. It was fun to catch up with all of them. After lunch, everyone left except for Ivy and Carlo because they were still waiting for class.

We came to the classroom earlier than the teacher because she had to get the keys first. Then she gave us a surprise quiz, it was fairly easy except that I forgot to put a semi-colon at the last part of the program. After that she reviewed us about C++, but even though I knew some of the stuff she was talking about, some were really tricky that I wasn’t able to catch up. I guess I really need to do some serious studying because she announced that we’re going to have our first ME on Tuesday. Anyway, she dismissed us 30 minutes earlier than the time. So I was able to photocopy her notes before the next class. ^_^

Hum 2 was fun! The teacher came on time and then he asked the class who would be celebrating their birthday on June. I didn’t hear it well the first time he said it so I asked him to repeat it, then I blurted out that it’s my birthday today. :P Apparently he was prepared to give me some presents, so like the restaurant “Pancake House” he tried to serve me… the lesson. ^^;;; First, he gave me a placemat with the outline of our reading printed on it. Next was a plate, to remind us of Plato. Then he gave me a chicken pie, to illustrate his point about art and the real thing (he also gave my seatmate a picture of a pie, printed on a piece of paper ^^;;;). Then he gave me a napkin full of notes and a spork (spoon and fork in one, the one that comes with instant noodles ^_^). It was really funny! I bet the whole class already know my name because the teacher repeated it several times. He also gave us a small Japanese umbrella (the one that comes with the drinks in bars) as a peace offering because he wasn’t able to attend our class last time. And he ended our class 45 minutes earlier. ^_^

With 45 minutes to spare before I go home, I went to the chapel and prayed. I gave thanks to all the blessings I’ve received and I also prayed for all my friends. I made a special prayer for Rhoda, I hope that she’d wake up soon. After that I went home.

Mom bought me some native delicacies when I came. She bought suman, pichi-pichi, sapin-sapin, and a lot more! (I don’t remember the names. ^^;;) I emerged out of the kitchen with a really big tummy! Gah… I think I ate too much… :P

Then when I checked my email I got a lots of letters for my birthday! I also got a letter from my niece in Japan... she even gave me photos although I couldn't look at them. It said invalid format blahblah.. -_-;;;

All in all, it was a fun birthday. I couldn't ask for anything more. ^_~

School.

Somehow going back to school is very hard for me. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not because I’d rather spend all my time in vacation. It’s just that it is going to be another adjustment period for me. I’ve failed one of my major subjects, now I have to face the consequences.

*****

I attended EEE35 (the subject I was supposed to get if I was able to pass EEE33) this morning. I was so happy to see my friends again and to see my orgmates. I felt like that I really belonged there. When class started, I got interested in what the teacher was talking about. Integration, harmonics, signals… everything! I miss integrating. I miss math. I miss calculus. I really want to take that subject. I really want to graduate on time.

I can’t express how much I regret failing that one subject where my whole career depended on! It’s just so hard for me to accept it because I lost so many privileges. I feel like a failure right now. IT’S NOT FAIR! It’s not fair at all. My whole life I’ve always been an achiever and now I’m falling apart.

I know I could have passed that subject. I just became lazy that semester. I thought nothing bad could happen to me. Now I know how wrong I was.

*****

Maybe all these things happened for a reason.

I lost my scholarship. I lost my confidence. I feel I’ve lost everything. Well, if that’s the case, I’m going to start again. Start from scratch, but no matter what happens I will finish this course. I promise.
